Where Are The Stelae TOTK Locations And How To Find Them
2 October 2026 | 76
In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, players who explore the underground Gerudo Shelter will eventually meet an archaeologist named Rotana. She assigns the side quest known as The Heroines' Secret, which tasks Link with tracking down and photographing four ancient stone tablets called stelae. Finding all four stelae allows Rotana to piece together the history of the seven Gerudo heroines, but locating them requires clever exploration around the shelter.
Locating the Stela Behind the Boulders
The first stela can be accessed easily from the main central area where Rotana is stationed. Look toward the room marked by two stelae Rotana already discovered, then inspect the wall to your left. Clear away the pile of destructible rocks using a bomb flower or hammer to reveal the hidden stone inscription behind them.
After clearing the debris, equip the Purah Pad camera app to capture a clear photo of the inscription. You will know the picture is valid when a red exclamation point appears on the screen.
Finding the Classroom and Broken Stela Inscriptions
To find the second stela, head into the shelter's classroom located to the left of Rotana. Visit the room outside of class hours so the students are not blocking your view of the stone wall. Stand at a diagonal angle near the stairs to line up the broken parts of the image until they visually connect into a complete tablet.
For the third stela, travel down the corridor past the classroom and take a left at the fork. You will encounter a broken tablet buried beneath a pile of sand. Use a Korok Frond Guster or Fan to blow the sand away, then use Ultrahand to fit the loose stone piece back into its wall slot before snapping a photo.
Accessing the Hidden Prison Cell Stela
The fourth and final stela is hidden inside the Gerudo Shelter prison cell, which cannot be entered directly from the main hallway. Head toward the prison entrance on the right side of the shelter and locate the lower ledge near the shelves. Smash the ceramic vases on the bottom shelf to open a small tunnel you can crouch walk through.
Follow the hidden path into the space beneath the jail cell, then use the Ascend ability to pass through the ceiling into the prison room. Take a photograph of the final stela on the wall before interacting with the jail door or guard to exit the cell.
Completing Rotana's Side Quest Rewards
Once you have taken clear photos of all four stone tablets, return to the central hub and speak with Rotana. Show her the images stored in your Purah Pad album to complete the research request.
Rotana will reward Link with 100 rupees for uncovering the historical inscriptions. Finishing this quest also opens up further exploration and dialogue options related to the lore of the Gerudo region.
